Paul Comeau is a recently retired Partner of Grant Thornton LLP with over 40 years of experience in public practice becoming one of the only Acadian partners in Nova Scotia for some time. Paul joins the board with an extensive background in providing audit and advisory services to a host of local government entities including municipalities, homes for special care, universities, school boards, and many other not-for-profit organizations in addition to providing business advisory services to owner managed businesses in various industries in Southwest Nova Scotia.
Paul earned his M.B.A. from Dalhousie University and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1980. Paul has been a councilor of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, President of the Yarmouth YMCA, President of the Rotary Club of Yarmouth, President of the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation and Director with Canada Post Corporation, among others. Paul has more recently been involved in committee work for NS Junior Achievement. In his home town of Yarmouth, he has been an active member in the community including coaching hockey and being the organist at St. Ambrose co-cathedral for more than 30 years.
