Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital emergency department temporarily closing

Nova Scotia Health Authority wishes to advise the public that Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in Tatamagouche is temporarily closing until further notice.

The Emergency Department will be closed due to a lack of local physician resources. The closure is effective at 8:00 a.m., Monday, March 23.

This temporary closure allows the doctors and nursing staff to redirect the resources to meet the health care needs of the community and northern zone. The number of inpatient beds at the hospital will be increased to 13. This is an additional three beds. The primary health care clinic’s physicians and nurse practitioner will continue to care for all current patients of the clinic as well as patients of Dr. Mike Glasgow and former patients of Dr. Chris Moss.

Anyone who is unclear about the availability of services may also contact the hospital at 902-657-2382.

Those experiencing a medical emergency should always call 911. For non-emergency health advice from a registered nurse, please call 811. The provincial Mental Health Crisis Line also operates 24/7 at 1-888-429-8167.
