Main entrance will be closed temporarily as part of ongoing exterior maintenance work underway at Eastern Memorial Hospital

CANSO, N.S. – The main entrance at Eastern Memorial Hospital in Canso will be closed for a few days next week as part of ongoing exterior maintenance work at the site.

Starting Monday, Nov. 2, the hospital’s main entrance will be closed for one to two days to allow work to be completed in that area. While this work is underway, people are asked to use the emergency entrance on the left hand side of the building to access the hospital. The door to the COVID-19 assessment centre will remain open.

The entrance closure is part of work that began in September to replace the hospital’s soffits and fascia. This work is part of required maintenance for the building and is expected to be completed in the next two to three weeks.

People are reminded to use caution if they are near areas outside the hospital where work is being done. They are also reminded to follow COVID-19 measures including visitor restrictions, social distancing, wearing a non-medical mask and good hand hygiene.

Nova Scotia Health appreciates your patience and cooperation while work is underway.
