Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) wishes to advise the public that the emergency department at Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital will be closed from 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 through 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 due to lack of physician coverage.
The walk-in lab (blood) collections service at Eastern Memorial Hospital in Canso will close at 12 p.m. daily for the week of Nov. 5 to 9. This temporary change in service hours is due to the unavailability of staff.
Annapolis Royal, N.S. – Nova Scotia Health Authority wishes to advise the public that the Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC) at Annapolis Community Health Centre will be closed on:
• Sunday, November 4 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Monday, November 5 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
When I first came across the term “patients with complex needs” as a medical student, I didn’t fully understand what this meant. I wondered, doesn’t every patient have “complexities” in their life experiences, resources and needs? On a philosophical level, perhaps the answer is “yes.” However, the Agency for Healthcare and Quality defines patients with complex needs as “persons with two or more chronic conditions where each condition may influence the care of the other condition.”
