World Breastfeeding Week Family Fun Fair on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Enjoy music from A Pig’s Jig, face painting, games, prizes and food. Parent-baby “Latch On” at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Goldbloom Pavillion Gallery, IWK Health Centre, 5850/5980 University Avenue, Halifax.
 
WESTERN NOVA SCOTIA
Cotton Tale Café + Play casual social gathering on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. 
The Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge is a friendly competition between cities across Canada and around the world. Its goal is to have the most babies and children breastfeed at the same time. Join us at Cotton Tale Café + Play in celebrating breastfeeding by latching on at 1:30 p.m. Please arrive by 1:00 p.m. for registration if participating in the challenge. Admission, snacks and beverages will be provided on behalf of the Valley Baby Friendly Initiative Committee, in partnership with Cotton Tale Café + Play. 9185 Commercial Street, New Minas.
 
Google Forms Contest from Oct. 3 to 7. Open to all Annapolis Valley High Schools.
 
Community Playdate on Friday, Oct. 6, 1 to 2 p.m. Hosted by the Baby-Friendly Initiative committee in Annapolis County. Grant Potter Memorial Playground, 167 St. George Street, downtown Annapolis Royal.
 
Mama’s Milk, a children’s picture book about nursing, will now be available at elementary school libraries in Annapolis County courtesy of the Baby-Friendly Initiative committee.
 
World Breastfeeding Week Contest based on the theme “Breastfeeding: Foundation of Life” for staff and community members at the Annapolis Community Health Centre.

Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. for registration and 11:00 a.m. for “Latch On”. This is a friendly competition between cities across Canada and around the world. Its goal is to have the most babies and children breastfeed at the same time. There will be refreshments and door prizes at all three locations:

  • Inverness Family Place (Royal Bank Building), 15792 Central Avenue, Inverness.
  • People’s Place Library, 283 Main Street, Antigonish.
 
Mom’s Paint Morning on Tuesday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with Ashley MacLennan Designs. This is a free event and pre-registration is required. Donations of nonperishable items for the food bank are graciously accepted. People’s Place Library, 283 Main Street, Antigonish.
