    We are seeking a Family Medicine physician to join the team at the Clare Health Centre which is a bilingual, collaborative practice. The team includes six other physicians and a nurse practitioner as well as other allied health care professionals. The physician would work on-call coverage (1 in 6 weekdays and Saturday morning) as part of the rota in Clare and provide office-based primary care to a full variety of patients in the community of Clare and surrounding areas. Emergency Department work could be an option at the Digby General Hospital or Yarmouth Regional Hospital and participating in the inpatient rota in Digby is an option. Compensation is fee for service or APP collaborative care.

    Candidates must be eligible for certification by Canadian College of Family Physicians and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia. Physicians interested in practicing in emergency departments are required to have ACLS, ATLS, BCLS and PALS. Having the College of Family Physicians of Canada ER certification would be considered to be an asset.

Epidural service 24/7, support of other departments that would include ICU, ED PEDS for IV access and airway management. There would be shared call responsibilities with 4 FTE department members.Compensation will be through APP with deliverables.

  • Emergency Preparedness Medical Advisor (.2 FTE - approx 8 hours/week)

    The Nova Scotia Health Authority has outlined a vision for people-centered health care that will enable the system to think and act as one. A critical step in enabling this vision of a provincial approach to health services was the consolidation of the nine existing district health authorities into one Nova Scotia Health Authority, with the IWK Health Centre remaining as a separate authority. A streamlined health system can provide many opportunities to put resources where most effective to meet population needs, build a system that focuses on people and patients, ensure a provincial approach to planning and integration of services, and reduce duplication.

    The Nova Scotia Health Authority is the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia.  Our team of professionals include employees, physicians, researchers, learners and volunteers.  This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health and mental health and addictions.
    Mandate:
    The Emergency Preparedness Medical Advisor will provide expert guidance and advice related to the clinical components of disaster and emergency preparedness.  The Medical Advisor will assist with the development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of the corporate NSHA program. This position will report to the Senior Director Planning, Performance, and Accountability and work primarily with the Director, Enterprise Risk Management and Emergency Preparedness. In addition, this position will work collaboratively with other senior medical directors / leads as applicable.
    Accountabilities:
    The Medical Director will work collaboratively with the Emergency Preparedness leadership team primarily in an advisory capacity with specific operational responsibilities.

    This position will advise on the following:
    •    Program development, implementation and evaluation as it relates to the clinical aspect of emergency preparedness eg. Mass Casualty Incidents, Decontamination, Exercise planning for clinical areas, etc.
    •    Emergency preparedness strategic planning process
    •    Priority setting for clinical aspects of emergency preparedness within the allocated program budget
    •    Clinical, academic, and research opportunities
    •    The identification and monitoring of program standards and accountabilities
    Other responsibilities include:
    •    Leading and championing the physician engagement strategy
    •    Participation in the development and implementation of recommendations arising from lessons learned processes.
    •    Participation in NSHA exercises as applicable
    Eligibility:
    •    Medical Doctor with current NSHA privileges, or eligibility to obtain.
    •    Formal training or equivalent experience in Emergency and Disaster Preparedness
    •    Leadership experience as a Department or Division Head an asset.
    •    Leadership training with CSPE/CHE preferred.
    •    Demonstrated excellent communication skills
    •    Basic computer skills with a familiarity with Microsoft Office
    •    Demonstrated ability to build relationships across disciplines and programs to achieve successful outcomes

    There is an opportunity for a full-time family physician at the Weymouth Medical Centre located in the historic village of Weymouth, approximately 20 minutes from the Digby General Hospital with the prospect to be part of the collaborative family practice team at the Digby & Area Health Service Centre.
    The clinic is fully equipped with furniture and computer system. The Village Commission offers one year of free rent and the Municipality funds the services of one full-time administrative staff person.

    The Village itself is near St. Mary’s Bay, on the border between the Municipality of the County of Digby and the French Acadian Municipality of Clare with its rich Acadian Culture. Schools provide access to an English, French or Bilingual education. The Université Sainte-Anne is 15 minutes away which offers amenities to the public.

    We are actively recruiting for a Paediatrician to join the team based out of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Duties include full scope of practice as a pediatrician providing care to the patients within the Western Zone and participating in call. We are affiliated with the IWK Children’s Hospital (Halifax), which provides travelling sub-specialty clinics, telehealth grand rounds and an air transport program. Hours are 37.5/week and 1:3 on-call schedule.

    We are looking for a full-time family physician to be aligned with an established collaborative practice in Berwick that offers a full range of comprehensive primary health care services. The physician will participate in office-based primary care and in-patient rota at the Valley Regional Hospital, support the community after-hours clinic and nursing home care as well as have collaborative opportunities within the community health centre. A significant portion of patients are from the First Nation community in the area, continuity of the care of this population is important. Physicians have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents. Currently, this is a fee-for-service position.

The physicians will be expected to provide office-based comprehensive primary care, inpatient coverage and participation in the in-patient rota at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton as well as LTC/RCF coverage as required in the community. Administration and NP and FPN costs can be shared. Compensation will be through an Alternative Payment Plan.

    The Digby and area Health Services Centre is looking to grow their team with a full time family physician! This new clinic with an EMR is just a few steps from the Digby General Hospital. Physicians will participate in an on call rota, have the option to provide ER coverage, participate in inpatient care and have access to procedure rooms for minor lumps & bumps. This is an attractive opportunity for physicians with academic interests who enjoy working with learners.

    Compensation is a guaranteed income through an APP Agreement.
