Originally from Inverness County, Madonna is an accomplished health leader with a strong commitment to a population and rural health focus.
Madonna has significant experience in public health and the delivery of community-based health care. She is a registered nurse and has a Master of Science in Epidemiology focused on program planning and evaluation.
Madonna has served on the Canadian Public Health Association Board of Directors and the Executive Board of the Nova Scotia Public Health Association.
A strong believer in the importance of integrating research into practice, Madonna was a member of the proposal writing team and the inaugural Advisory Board of the National Collaborating Centre for the Determinants of Health.
Madonna has previously served as the Vice President of Integrated Health Services for the Guysborough Antigonish Strait Health Authority (GASHA), the Director, Professional Practice and CNO Atlantic Region with Health Canada’s First Nation Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) and NSHA’s Senior Director, Acute Medicine.
