Changes to traffic flow expected at Cape Breton Regional Hospital as construction of new expansions continues
Temporary changes to traffic flow are expected in the next few weeks at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, as construction continues on new expansions at the site. The changes are necessary to connect underground services from the new construction to the existing hospital.
Beginning on Monday, Sept. 20, installation of a temporary access road to the new parking lot (P3) along Hospital Boulevard will begin. This construction, located near the front of the hospital, is expected to take one week to be completed.
On Monday, Sept. 27, installation of a temporary turn-around area at the back of the hospital will begin. This work is expected to take one week to be completed.
People are reminded to use caution, watch for construction crews and allow extra time when travelling to and from the hospital, as traffic may be reduced to one lane at times. There are no anticipated impacts to parking as a result of this work.
The work is part of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) Health Care Redevelopment Project, which includes a new Cape Breton Cancer Centre, energy centre and clinical services building that will house an emergency department, critical care department, in-patient beds, surgical suites and maternal/born services at the Regional Hospital.
Nova Scotia Health appreciates your patience and cooperation while this work is underway.
