COVID-19 Nova Scotia Health Outreach Vaccine Clinics in Digby Neck and The Islands next week

Nova Scotia Health Outreach Vaccine Clinics are continuing to tour the Western Zone next week to help support vaccine booking availability for residents. These clinics will be offering the Moderna vaccine.

Outreach vaccine clinics will be available through pre-booked appointments for residents and nearby community members at the following locations, on the following dates:

  • Digby Neck Consolidated School (6203 Highway 217, Sandy Cove) - July 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Westport Fire Hall (21 Second Street, Westport, Brier Island) - July 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Islands Consolidated School (75 Overcove Road, Freeport) - July 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m

Appointment bookings for these locations are now open. Community members can book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment online at https://www.novascotia.ca/vaccination or by phone at 1-833-797-7772 (call from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week).

The Outreach Vaccine Clinics in Western Zone are focusing on providing first doses to residents, but any community members eligible for their second dose are welcome to book an appointment.

For those with mobility challenges, special needs, and/or have significant anxiety about needles, please indicate this when booking an appointment, or notify clinic team members on site. Having this information in advance helps the clinic team better prepare to offer support.

Transportation to and from vaccine appointments can be organized through Rural Rides for $5 return. Visit https://ruralrides.ca/ to find the nearest provider. Transportation must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.

Outreach Vaccine Clinics in Western Zone are providing Moderna only, due to increased supply. Moderna is interchangeable with Pfizer – they are both mRNA vaccines. Regardless of which vaccine an adult has had for their first dose, they can take Pfizer or Moderna as their second dose. Pfizer is the only vaccine approved for children 12 to 17, and is not available through these outreach clinics.

All eligible Nova Scotians are encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible.

Nova Scotia Health Outreach Vaccine Clinics will also be heading to the following Western Zone communities this month to offer pre-booked COVID-19 vaccine appointments:

  • Kingston
  • Lockeport
  • Chester
  • Weymouth

*Details regarding exact clinic locations, clinic times, and the opportunity to book an appointment will be announced shortly.

Around 4,000 appointments will be made available through the Nova Scotia Health Outreach Vaccine Clinics in the Western Zone this summer.
