Physiotherapy is the health care profession dedicated to enhancing and restoring your mobility through a variety of hands-on treatments, education and exercise prescription.
Physiotherapists are university-educated experts who can help you achieve your highest level of physical functioning (at any stage of life) by providing you with a personalized treatment plan based on your specific needs.
What will the physiotherapist do?
The physiotherapist will ask you to describe your condition and ask you questions about your medical history, lifestyle, and goals. They will do a physical assessment as well as observe your level of mobility, strength and other physical abilities to determine the impact of your condition on your overall physical function. As a result of the assessment they will form a physiotherapy diagnosis of your condition and develop a treatment plan to optimize your function and reduce pain. Together we will determine a plan that will involve your active participation. The physiotherapist will measure your progress regularly and adjust your treatment according to your needs. The physiotherapist will advise you on how to manage your condition and how to prevent avoidable reoccurrences or complications.
Your physiotherapy team may include physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, rehabilitation assistants and/or physiotherapy aides.
