The renal dialysis department and emergency department expansion at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHCC) is an investment in the future of healthcare for Cumberland County. The expanded emergency department and new renal dialysis department will ensure people receive the care they need closer to home, in a modern, efficient, and purpose-built space. This work also includes a new power plant which will serve both the additions and the entire site.
The new, nearly doubled-in-size emergency department will improve patient flow, enhance privacy, and create a state-of-the-art environment for healthcare teams. The new 12-station renal dialysis department will replace the existing temporary five-station unit, significantly expanding capacity and improving the care experience for our patients. This project will help meet the growing healthcare needs of the region, provide a better experience for patients and families, and support the recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals.

"I’m really looking forward to the new build and the incredible opportunities it will bring — not only for staff education but also for how we deliver care. The emergency department is one of three clinical areas in my portfolio, and I know this redevelopment will make a big difference for our teams and patients alike." — Meaghan Moore, Clinical Nurse Educator, CRHCC
