Guysborough Memorial Hospital serves the health care needs of the residents of Guysborough County. The hospital has a partnership with the Guysborough Youth Health Center and is adjacent to the Milford Haven Home for Special Care.

When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room.

TV and phone services are available in all inpatient rooms.
TV and cable are available in all inpatient care areas, free of charge.
Bedside phone service is available in all inpatient rooms. There is a fee for this service. Instructions for setting up the phone service are located on the bed.
Inpatients are provided with daily meals. Below are the approximate meal times:
There are full-time and volunteer religious and spiritual care workers available. Staff can help families or patients contact a chaplain.

Ask your primary care provider for a referral to a Diabetes Centre. It will be reviewed by our team and you will be contacted for an appointment.

If you have a referral, you may book an appointment for blood collection at this location anytime online or by calling toll-free 1-855-867-8821, Monday to Friday 7:15 am - 2:45 pm (excluding holidays).
Bacterial testing is currently not available at this location. Please drop samples to Bureau Veritas Laboratories, 465 George St, Sydney, NS (902-567-1255). Chemical testing is still available through the NSH clinical laboratories and sent to CZ Environmental Services.
Laboratory Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The emergency department is located through the main entrance of the hospital. Please register at the front desk when you arrive. The department is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

To schedule an appointment, please call 902-338-0314. Phone lines will be open at 8:30 a.m. on April 20 and 8:00 a.m. on April 21 for same-day appointment booking. The number of appointments each day is limited.
