Driving change behind the scenes: Meet Katie Webber

Katie Webber credits a gentle nudge more than two decades ago for guiding her into a successful career in healthcare.

The clinical training lead for the Care Coordination Centre (C3) in Western Zone has always had a passion for helping others.

But it was a casual job at a local hospital while taking post-secondary studies that carved out her future professional path. A supportive manager recognized her potential as a young adult and encouraged Katie to pursue a career in the health field.

Now, with more than 22 years of experience in healthcare, Katie brings a remarkable blend of professionalism, adaptability and unwavering dedication to her role.

“I am forever grateful to that manager,” says Katie. “She saw something in me, and that experience shaped how I approach my work today.”

In her current role, Katie’s days are fast-paced and dynamic. She juggles urgent inquiries, training sessions, meetings and travel, all while helping frontline staff navigate the advanced technology behind C3.

Her work ensures smoother communication between healthcare professionals and helps reduce potential barriers – like missed appointments or incomplete testing – that could delay a patient’s care.

“C3 gives teams a clearer view of what patients need,” Katie explains. “It helps us spot issues early and makes care more efficient.”

One of the more rewarding parts of Katie’s work has been training teams during the expansion of the Patient Manager (PM) tile – a tool similar to an app that displays real-time patient data for healthcare teams. With its expansion to more rural communities, healthcare teams now have better visibility into patient needs and can plan more effectively.

“C3 is making healthcare easier and more accessible,” says Katie. “By supporting teams with the right tools, we’re improving how care is delivered across the province.”

Although Katie doesn’t work directly with patients, she sees the impact of C3 and her team’s efforts every day. She’s proud to play a role in helping patients feel confident in their care and supporting them in returning to the place they call home when they are ready.
