An x-ray takes images of internal body structures (bones and soft tissue) to help see an injury or disease. The x-ray using energy sources such as the high frequency electromagnetic radiation.
There are many different types of x-rays. Please read the preparation instructions provided to you.
Please note: X-ray walk-in service is suspended at all sites across Nova Scotia Health. Patients requiring an x-ray should phone the local number listed below to make an appointment for your x-ray. Some locations also have online appointment booking available.
Booking an x-ray
Patients with requisitions for general x-rays can book an appointment at this location online at https://booking.nshealth.ca or can call 902-473-7771 or toll-free at 1-833-952-2782, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to schedule an appointment.
How do I cancel/change my appointment?
Please call 1-844-I-REBOOK (1-844-473-2665). You will be asked to select the location of your x-ray appointment.
You will be connected with a team member who can cancel your appointment and help arrange for a new appointment.
*The DI Re-Book line does not currently connect patients to the IWK Health Centre. If you're trying to re-book or cancel an IWK Diagnostic Imaging appointment, you must call one of the following numbers:
