Music Therapy

The music therapy service consists of a team of five accredited music therapists (MTAs) who have been accredited by the Canadian Association for Music Therapists (CAMT).

MTAs use music to work with patients and long-term care residents to improve, maintain and restore mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. Music Therapy enhances quality of life for many of the patients, and residents, and their family members within Nova Scotia Health Authority. Music Therapists are professional therapists and members of the care team at several sites within NSHA.

Music therapy service with specific therapeutic clinical goals is offered at the NSHA in both scheduled group music therapy sessions and private sessions, often taking place in patient rooms.
