Cancer care centres and community-based clinics

Nova Scotia has two specialty cancer centres, the QEII Cancer Centre in Halifax and the Cape Breton Cancer Centre in Sydney. Each provide a full range of cancer treatments, services and supports.

Cancer centre staff also work closely with cancer health providers in community cancer clinics to provide patients with as much cancer treatment and care as is safely possible close to where they live. This includes some assessment services like doing tests to understand the cancer and possible treatments, systemic therapy (chemotherapy, immunotherapy), supportive care and follow-up care. Radiation therapy is only available at the two cancer centres.
