Administrative Professionals' Day featuring Lisa Comeau

Woman sits at a computer desk with a monitor and files around her wearing a patterned shirt, black sweater, glasses and she has long brown hair. She's smiling at the camera.

Lisa Comeau believes in the old adage that time flies when you’re having fun.

She believes this because she has lived it. For 37 years, she has been with Nova Scotia Health, the first 19 at the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre, and the last 17 years as an administrative assistant with the Mental Health and Addictions Program, working out of the Bedford/ Sackville clinic.

But for Lisa, it feels like she started just yesterday. That’s because this was more than just a job for Lisa, it was a way to give back, supporting staff and clinicians who provide care for people who need it.

“I’ve been very fortunate to work with some amazing people over the years, making lifelong friendships that I will always cherish,” she says. “I also feel grateful to have been able to work in the mental health field which holds a special place in my heart.”

Known for her kind and welcoming presence, Lisa plans on retiring in May. She will miss coming into the clinic every day, interacting with staff with her trademark smile and compassionate demeanour, but says she’s ready for what comes next.

“I look forward to spending more time with my children and grandchildren and with elderly parents,” she says. “I would also love to travel more, whether it be abroad or even within our own province, exploring new places and trying new restaurants and cafes. Most sunny days, you’ll find me at my pool or even better at the beach, which is my true happy place!”
