New Same Day Clinic Enhances Access to Healthcare in Shelburne
People in the Shelburne area will soon have an additional point of access to care for a number of health concerns.
The Shelburne Same Day Clinic will be open Saturdays and Sundays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Saturday, July 12, with plans to expand the service seven days a week. The Same Day Clinic is located at Roseway Hospital, next to the emergency department. The clinic will operate regular, consistent hours, whether the emergency department is open or closed.
The Shelburne Same Day Clinic is for people with or without a primary care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner). Patients are seen by appointment only – people can call or arrive at the clinic during hours of operation to book an appointment. On Saturdays and Sundays, call starting at 8 a.m. for a same day appointment: 902-875-7445.
Same Day access is designed to address non-urgent, low-acuity health issues and is not an emergency service. Types of concerns that it may address include:
- Prescription refills or renewals (except for controlled substances)
- Minor respiratory symptoms
- Sore throat
- Earaches
- Fever
- Headache
- Rashes
- Minor gastrointestinal concerns (vomiting and diarrhea)
- Cough, flu, or cold symptoms
- Urinary tract infections
- Muscle pain
This clinic is an additional access point for care and is not intended to replace local emergency department services. Anyone experiencing a medical emergency should call 911. Nova Scotia Health remains committed to continue working toward 24/7 emergency department service at Roseway Hospital as resources allow.
