Nova Scotia Health to mark Green Shirt Day with flag raising at Grand Parade

Nova Scotia Health will join partners and community members on Tuesday to recognize Green Shirt Day by raising the Legacy of Life flag at Grand Parade in Halifax.

Green Shirt day raises awareness about the life-saving impact of organ and tissue donation and to honour the generous gift of donors to those waiting for transplants.

What: Flag raising ceremony marking Green Shirt Day
When: Tuesday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m.
Where: Grand Parade flagpole at Halifax City Hall
Who: The Organ and Tissue Donation Team, and the transplantation team

Green Shirt Day was inspired by Logan Boulet, one of 16 people who tragically lost their lives in the 2018 Humbolt Broncos bus crash. Logan’s decision to register as an organ donor saved six lives and sparked a national movement encouraging Canadians to register as a donor.

Legacy of Life is Nova Scotia’s Organ and Tissue Donation Program, established in 2006. The program supports organ donation across Nova Scotia Health facilities and works to raise public awareness about the importance of donation. It encourages Nova Scotians to register and discuss their wishes with loved ones, helping to save and improve lives through transplantation.
