Work underway at Roseway Hospital for new renal dialysis unit
SHELBURNE, N.S. - Site preparations are underway on Roseway Hospital property to get ready for the installation of a new six-station dialysis unit. This project is one of three new dialysis units being built across the province to improve access to life-saving renal care in rural communities.
The project will use an innovative construction approach known as Design for Manufacture and Assembly. This method allows much of the unit to be built off-site before modular components are delivered and assembled on Roseway Hospital property, helping reduce construction timelines and minimize delays.
What patients and visitors should know during construction:
- Patients can continue to access all services at Roseway Hospital as well as Shelburne Community Health Centre and Shelburne Family Practice as usual.
- Construction crews and equipment will begin onsite preparations in the rear area, near the Shelburne Community Health Centre family practice building.
- Please park only in the front hospital parking lot.
- Allow extra time when coming for an appointment in case of any construction-related traffic delays.
We ask all patients, visitors, staff, physicians and volunteers to use caution around active work areas, follow all posted signage and respect fencing and barriers as the project progresses.
The new dialysis unit is expected to be operational in 2027, and is part of the Nova Scotia Government’s plan to build three new dialysis units across the province. Nova Scotia Health thanks the community for its cooperation as this important healthcare project moves forward.
