General Cardiology Clinic

The purpose of the general cardiology clinic is for family physicians to refer patients for cardiology consult for suspected cardiac symptoms. The cardiology nurse triages the referrals and directs them to the appropriate department (inherited heart disease; arrhythmia; internal medicine; congenital; or general cardiology) for follow-up. A cardiologist is assigned based on the first one with an opening in that department. Referring physicians are directed to complete a cardiology referral form with appropriate test results (echo, stress test, lab work, ECG or chest x-ray and patient’s medication list) at time of referral.
