Traffic Disruptions on Robie Street Near Halifax Infirmary – May 23 and 24, 2026.

Nova Scotia Health is advising motorists that the northbound lanes on Robie Street, between Veterans Memorial Lane and Bell Road, will be closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, until  6 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, to support underground electrical work connecting power to the new Acute Care Tower as part of the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project.

During this time, traffic changes and detours will be in effect, including:

  • Northbound traffic on Robie Street will be detoured right onto Veterans Memorial Lane, left onto Summer Street, and left onto Bell Road back to Robie Street
  • Trucks will be detoured via Spring Garden Road, Summer Street, and Bell Road
  • No access to Shirley Street from Robie Street; local traffic access only
  • Sidewalks and pedestrian access will remain open, including the west side of Robie Street between Jubilee Road and Quinpool Road

Patients and visitors are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use alternative routes whenever possible. The emergency department will remain open and fully accessible throughout the work.

Traffic control personnel will be on site to help direct vehicles and maintain safe access for patients, visitors, and emergency services. Please follow posted signage and clearly marked detour routes. Please see the below map for reference.

We appreciate your patience and co-operation as this important infrastructure work is completed in support of the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project.
