Traffic Advisory: Temporary early morning traffic impacts near QEII Halifax Infirmary
Nova Scotia Health is advising that from July 13 to Aug. 19, large structural girder beams will be delivered and installed to support construction of the new Acute Care Tower.
Deliveries will occur on weekdays between approximately 3:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. and will require temporary closures on a section of Bell Road near the construction site.
Access to the Halifax Infirmary emergency department will be maintained at all times during this work. Patients requiring emergency care should continue to use the emergency department entrance as usual.
What to Expect
- Temporary early morning traffic disruptions and closures on a section of Bell Road
- Traffic control personnel and detour signage will be in place to direct motorists
- Continued access to the emergency department
- Sidewalks and pedestrian routes will remain open
- Increased noise from trucks, cranes and construction activities during delivery and installation periods
Motorists travelling in the area during the closure window are encouraged to follow posted detours and allow additional travel time.
This work is being scheduled during early morning hours to minimize impacts on patients, visitors, staff and daytime traffic, while supporting the safe construction of the new Acute Care Tower.
