Nutrition and Cancer

Eating well is important at every stage of your cancer journey. This can:

  • Help keep your body strong.
  • Help you keep your weight and energy.
  • Help you cope with treatment side effects.
  • Cancer and cancer treatment can make it harder to eat. Your body may not get all the nutrients it needs. Some people are able to eat well during their treatment. Other people may find it more difficult.

A Registered Dietitian can help you by:

  • Giving you tips to manage side effects from treatment.
  • Helping you gain weight or keep a healthy weight through treatment.
  • Answering questions about food and nutrition.
  • Helping you find information that is right for you.

New Health Information System

Nova Scotia Health's new One Person One Record system has rolled out at facilities in the Halifax Regional and West Hants municipalities, and some provincial Mental Health and Addictions Program services.

During this time of transition to a better patient-record system, our teams will keep working to get you the care you need.

You may notice staff in purple vests helping our care teams use the new system.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.
