VaxRecordNS allows people with a Nova Scotia health card to access vaccination records using the website. With the exception of MPox, all vaccinations that have been reported to Public Health after 2008* will appear on your record in VaxRecordNS. The list of vaccinations currently available, with descriptions, is found here.

*In some cases vaccine records prior to 2008 may be available. 

What do I need before I begin?

Access to VaxRecordNS is a two-step process.

  1. You must create or login using your account.
  2. You must create a VaxRecordNS profile to view/print your vaccination record.

Other notes:

  • You will be asked for your NS Health card number
  • You will be asked to accept/provide your consent to your personal health information being collected, used and/or disclosed for VaxRecordNS.  
  • To access VaxRecordNS, we will need to verify the information on your health card.  
  • Your phone number was retrieved from recent health care services registration and/or your MSI Health Card record.  If the phone number is not correct and needs to be updated, please contact MSI Registration at 1-800-563-8880.
  • There will be an email confirmation and identity verification using text or call.
  • If the phone number needs to be updated, contact MSI Registration directly at 1-800-563-8880.

Is VaxRecordNS the only way I can get my vaccination record?

If you do not have digital access and would like to request your vaccination records please contact Public Health.

You must complete the form Request for Immunization Record From Public Health form  If you cannot print the document, Public Health can mail the form to you or you can pick it up in-person.  

Contact Public Health at 1-844-515-0675 and follow the voice prompts for the office location nearest you to decide how you will submit the completed form e.g. in person, scan to email, fax or mail.

Who is allowed to access vaccination records using VaxRecordNS?

  • You must have a Nova Scotia Health Card to use VaxRecordNS.
  • You must be 16 years old to use VaxRecordNS.
  • A parent/guardian can connect and access their child/dependent’s vaccination record when the child/dependent is less than 16 years old.  
  • Defined protocols must be used by the parent/guardian when accessing their child/dependent’s vaccination record.
  • The connection to a child/dependent’s record is removed when the child/dependent turns 16.

*Healthcare providers e.g. Pharmacy or Primary care provider, cannot access your vaccination records in VaxRecordNS.

How long does it take for my vaccines to show up in VaxRecordNS?

VaxRecordNS contains vaccines from several sources including Public Health, primary care, and pharmacies. Records may take up to 8 weeks to load, and some records will not be available if they are not submitted to Public Health. If you need your record before it is loaded, or your record is not available after 8 weeks, you must contact the provider directly. 

Are all my vaccination records accessible using VaxRecordNS?

VaxRecordNS may not include vaccination records from out of province/country. There are several vaccination provider sources in VaxRecordNS including Public Health, Primary Care Providers, Pharmacies and COVID- 19 Clinics which may not have their vaccination records loaded in VaxRecordNS.

How do I get vaccination records from my primary care provider or Pharmacy?

Contact your primary care provider or Pharmacy directly.  Your primary care provider and pharmacy cannot access VaxRecordNS at this time.

When I used VaxRecordNS no records were found, why not?

What if I do not want to set up an account and use VaxRecordNS, how do I access my vaccination records?

You can request your vaccination records from a Public Health office location near you.

How did VaxRecordNS get my phone number during the verification process?

Can I print my vaccination record?

The print option allows you to select all vaccinations or choose only the ones you want to print.  

How do I contact support for VaxRecordNS?

VaxRecordNS Support Service can be reached by one of two options:

  • Using the Contact Support options on the Support screen in VaxRecordNS
    • This will take you to a fillable form.  Do not include any personal health information such as your health card number or vaccine data.  
    • Submit the form when prompted

How do I make corrections to my vaccine records or report an error?

If you find errors, do not provide specifics about the error, that is considered personal health information.  Let us know that you want to report an error and would like a correction to your vaccination record.

I am having trouble connecting my child/dependent.  How do I get support for this?

Your child/dependent must be under 16 years old to connect them to your profile. If you are having trouble, select “Other” in the *Issue section of the fillable form.

I’m a parent/guardian. Can I access my child/dependent’s vaccination record?

As a parent/guardian you can connect your child/dependent’s vaccination record to your VaxRecordNS profile if they are under 16.  You must use the “Connect a Dependent’s Record” step in VaxRecordNS and complete the appropriate consent steps to validate your relationship to the child/dependent.

If your child/dependent is over 16 and does not have capacity to consent you must use the manual process by requesting your vaccination records from a Public Health office location near you.

Why is my child/dependant’s phone number presented?

The phone number presented for verification was retrieved from recent health care services and/or the child/dependent may have provided their phone number during registration.

If the phone number is not correct and needs to be updated, please contact MSI Registration at 1-800-563-8880.

If the phone number is correct you will need to ask your child/dependent to get the code that was sent to their device to complete verification. (You can only connect their record by completing the verification step.)

Why are some of my vaccine records “unspecified” or marked with an “i”?

There may be multiple reasons why a vaccination record may be “unspecified” or be marked with an “i”.

Why are there duplicate vaccination records in my profile?

Duplicate records may have been entered from different provider sources.  If required, you can request a correction by using the fillable form (.pdf) select, “Other” in the *Issue section of the fillable form and submit that to VaxRecordNS@novascotia.ca
