What we do
We test lab samples like blood and urine for patients across Nova Scotia. We also do other tests, such as water and soil testing.
Locations

- Click here to find our water testing information.
How do I access this service?
- A referral from a doctor or other health professional is needed for most tests. Blood collection needs a booked appointment.
- Water testing does not need a referral or appointment. Please click here for more information about water testing.
How do I prepare for my appointment/visit?
Bring your health card. If you were given you a paper requisition, please bring that too. If you have to take any special steps, like not eating or drinking, your doctor or health care provider will tell you. Children must have a parent or guardian with them in the waiting room. Do not wear scented products.
What will happen at my appointment?
For blood tests, you will be registered. Then one of our staff members will take the sample. For other tests, like urine, we will give you a labeled bottle to use for your sample. Some tests must be collected at home and brought back to us. Our staff will give you all the instructions you need.
Will there be any follow up after my appointment?
When they are ready, your test results will be in the YourHealthNS app, or visit the YourHealthNS website. Your doctor or other health care provider may contact you directly.
Results will be on the YourHealthNS app, or yourhealthns.ca, 24 hours after the lab has finished testing. Some tests take longer than others to complete. If you have questions or concerns about the results, please contact your health care provider.
