Cape Breton Regional Hospital emergency department looking for input from seniors and their caregivers on new pilot program

The emergency department at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney is looking for seniors and their caregivers to take part in a survey and focus group for a new pilot program.

The pilot program is a new seniors care team in the emergency department. The team would provide care that meets seniors’ unique needs, helping them avoid unnecessary hospital stays and return to the place they call home.

Seniors 65 years of age and over and their caregivers, who have visited Cape Breton Regional Hospital’s emergency department in the past 12 months, are invited to share their experiences. To take part, they need to fill out a quick survey to ensure they are eligible for the focus group, interested in speaking with the survey team further and can be contacted by the team.

Participation is voluntary. Feedback will help improve care for seniors in the emergency department.

The survey is open until Wednesday, Oct. 29. Seniors and their caregivers can fill out the survey by visiting: https://research-study.nshealth.ca/surveys/?s=NFP4XEEJXX9YNR4X.
