Nova Scotia Health reflects on its outcomes in the 2023-24 Annual Report

Janet Davidson, administrator of Nova Scotia Health and Karen Oldfield, interim president and CEO of Nova Scotia Health are pleased to share the 2023-24 Annual Report, launched today, Friday, September 26 at a pre-taped Annual General Meeting.

“I’m proud to share some specific highlights of our progress, such as the successful implementation of the YourHealthNS app, Urgent Treatment Centres, and Community Pharmacy Primary Care Clinics,” said Davidson. “Together, these services provide options for Nova Scotians to access health care services. Rather than imposing a ‘one-size-fits-all’ model, you now have choices in how, and where you receive care.”

The theme of this year’s annual report is Accelerating Access: Healthcare in Motion.

“For our health system to be well – all of us need to be doing our jobs well and holding one another responsible to fulfill our duties,” said Oldfield. “Every single person at Nova Scotia Health plays a vital role in the delivery of care in their community and across the province. For our system to thrive – for positive change to happen – we each need to be focused and ready to receive the baton at handoff.”

Derek Spinney, vice president Corporate Services, Infrastructure and chief financial officer presented the 2023-24 financial statement.

Continuing on the annual report’s theme of progress in healthcare, accountability and inclusivity across our system, Nova Scotia Health announced that after community consultation, the long-term care community Haliburton Place, located in Hants Community Hospital, has been renamed Mayflower Meadows.

The new name better reflects the community it serves and moves away from the use of the Haliburton name because of its association with the racist and misogynistic views and values espoused in Thomas Chandler Haliburton’s writings.
