Temporary entrance change at Dartmouth General Hospital’s emergency department
Beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 18, the emergency department entrance at Dartmouth General Hospital will be temporarily relocated to allow for planned enhancements to the current entrance and patient waiting area.
Work is expected to take approximately three to four weeks.
What to expect:
- A temporary, clearly marked entrance will be in use, to the left of current doors.
- Parking and access routes will remain the same.
- Emergency care will continue. Do not hesitate to visit in an emergency.
- Waiting area may be busier than usual. If possible, please limit the number of people attending with patients.
- Masking is required when entering the hospital.
- Security measures and screening will remain in place. Please do not bring dangerous items with you to the hospital.
The project, funded entirely by Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation donors, will focus on improving the comfort and well-being of patients and visitors.
Enhancements will include:
- new entrance doors
- new chairs to allow for more comfortable and additional seating with charging stations
- dimmable, ambient lighting to improve comfort
- a water bottle refill station
- new flooring and fresh paint.
These improvements are intended to create a calmer, more comfortable environment for patients, families and staff while maintaining safety and emergency care.
We thank you for your patience and co-operation during this time.
