Anger Management
The aim of Emotional Regulation/Anger Management is to provide an Afrocentric and safe space for individuals to unpack issues and learn how to deal with anger. As a health and wellness program, we hope to explain the long-term effects of anger on one’s health if not appropriately managed and addressed.
The goal is for individuals to have conversations around emotional regulation, stressors, communication skills, mindfulness, understanding what anger is, identify appropriate ways to handle anger, and how anger can affect both your health and relationships. The intention is to leave with an increased self-awareness and a better understanding of your responsibility to manage emotions.
The anger management service is free. Registration is required.
Please call 902-421-7260 to book an appointment.

Barber Shop Talks
6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Dr. Maria Angwin Memorial Clinic (230 Wyse Road)
The barbershop in the Black community has historically been a safe, nonjudgmental space for men to talk about anything. Through an interactive format, Barber Shop Talks aims to help Black men and boys confess their vulnerabilities and give them resources to begin a healthier way of living, as well as to show barbers how they can be mental health advocates. Seeking help can be difficult, an effect of stigma that Barber Shop Talks is hoping to erase.
At the barbershop, guys are already outspoken and opinionated, but we don’t tend to talk about self-care and the things that make sure we’re around for our kids and future generations. With these sessions we want to explore Black men and boy’s health and wellness issues and learn to help each other through peer discussion and health professional’s talks. the Barber Shop Talks is a free program. Registration is required.
To register please email Kyle.Fraser@nshealth.ca or Preston.trench@nshealth.ca.
