Note: This morning (March 11) Hants Community Hospital will be conducting a Code Silver exercise in its emergency department. This is a planned drill to help our staff prepare for emergency scenarios—there is no real threat. Patients and visitors may see actors in neon yellow vests with toy weapons and hear overhead announcements. The exercise is strictly controlled, and all participants will be clearly identified. If you are present and have questions or feel anxious, please speak with a staff member. Thank you for your understanding as we work to keep our hospital safe.

Public open house sessions on Virtual Urgent Care at Fishermen's, Roseway & Digby Hospitals

At these sessions, Nova Scotia Health representatives will be onsite to share information and answer questions about the new service including how it works and what health issues are appropriate. They are also available to discuss other options to access care in the community as well.

Virtual urgent care is a new option for people to access care for urgent, non-life-threatening health issues.

Some examples of what may be able to be seen through a virtual appointment include:  prescription refills; sinus congestion; coughs and sore throat; urinary tract infections; skin concerns; bites and stings; mild/moderate aches and pains; and other conditions as assessed by your healthcare provider.

Virtual Urgent Care is not a replacement for the local emergency department but will be particularly helpful during times when the local emergency department is temporarily closed.

When an emergency department is closed, patients with emergency health matters should call 911.
