The emergency department entrance has reopened today at Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro after being temporarily relocated.

The emergency department waiting room and triage were temporarily relocated to the ambulance bay to allow for renovations to the emergency department.

People seeking urgent and emergency care can now use the main emergency department entrance.

Nova Scotia Health appreciates the public’s patience during the renovation.

The artwork reflects Mi’kmaw cultural teachings and was introduced following a smudging ceremony led by the Mi’kmaw Indigenous Patient Navigator (MIPN) for the Northern Zone. The space was also used to share teachings with the care team about the meaning and importance of the four sacred medicines, supporting cultural safety and understanding within the emergency department.
