Traffic disruptions near QEII Halifax Infirmary October 7 to 14
Nova Scotia Health advises people travelling to the QEII Halifax Infirmary and other Nova Scotia Health services in the area to plan extra travel time due to the closure of Bell Road between Robie Street and Summer Street.
From October 7 to 14, this section of Bell Road will be closed to public vehicles, and bike lanes will also be inaccessible. Pedestrians will be rerouted as the sidewalks along that section of Bell Road will also be closed. Signage will be in place to indicate diverted routes.
Traffic control personnel will be present to assist with traffic flow, and detour signage will be in place to direct alternate routes.
This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of the permanent connection of the storm line crossing from the new QEII project site in coordination with Halifax Water. The storm crossing work was not done in August as it can only be completed when the pool at Halifax Common is shut down for the season.
The entrance to the Emergency Department has not changed. However, a new, temporary driveway for drop-off and ED parking is now located slightly further north along Robie Street. For additional parking, overflow spaces are available at the Summer Street parkade.
A map showing the affected area of Bell Road and alternative routes to reach the Emergency Department, and new main entrance of the Halifax Infirmary and the Summer Street Parkade is provided for your reference.
Nova Scotia Health recognizes closing a section of Bell Road will cause traffic disruptions and appreciates your patience while this work is underway.
