Victoria Building

The Victoria Building is located at the Victoria General site of the QEII. The building houses the outpatient clinics and services.

Parking

The parking lot entrances are located on University Ave. and South Park St. When you exit the parking lot, you can pay the parking fee by cash or credit card. The following fees apply: 

  • $3 per hour for the first two hours
  • $2.50 for the third hour
  • $2 for each additional hour
  • There is a maximum daily rate for $14.50

Discounted rates may also be available for outpatients with long-term treatment schedules. See your clinic's registration area for more information.            

​Visiting Hours

Visitors are welcome throughout the day except during a rest period between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Semi-private and Private Rooms in Nova Scotia Hospitals

  • Private room: Includes one bed and one washroom. You can find current rates here.
  • Semi-private room: Includes two beds separated by curtains and one washroom. You can find current rates here.

Space in our private and semi-private rooms is limited. The sooner we have your insurance information the more likely we are to be able to accommodate your request.

When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room.

When you are admitted, be sure to have your private insurance card with you and let the admitting clerk know you have requested a private or semi-private room.TV & Phone in your Room

Free Shuttle Service

Patients and families who are mobile and need transportation between the Victoria General (VG) and Halifax Infirmary (HI) sites are welcome to take the QEII shuttle.

WiFi and Internet Access

Free public Wifi is generously provided for free by the QEII Foundation at this location.

Blood Collection Location

Appointments are required for blood collection service.

If you have a referral, you may book an appointment for blood collection at this location anytime online or by calling 902-473-2074 or toll-free 1-833-942-2298 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).

This is a collection site for cancer care patients, transplant patients, and patients with same-day hospital appointments or service such as X-ray, ultra-sound, mammogram. Others may be redirected to another facility (such as Bayers Road).

Patients must be 12 years and older.

St. Martha's Regional Hospital

The majority of patients are seen initially for a consultation appointment only. Following the consult, a decision is made regarding the necessity and timing of surgery.

Patients must be referred by a physician or dentist to be seen in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic.

Referrals must include the patient’s name, date of birth, health card number/expiry date, phone numbers for day and evening and a complete mailing address with postal code.

Grief and Bereavement Services can be accessed through self-referral by contacting the Bereavement Coordinator.  For family and friends who are grieving the death of someone who died while under the care of the Palliative Care Service, there is no cut off for when Bereavement Services can be accessed. Grief does not follow a timeline.

With consent, any healthcare provider can submit a referral to the Bereavement Coordinator using a generic consult form.

When you call the Bereavement Coordinator you can expect to speak with a kind professional who will explain the grief services available and answer any questions that you may have.

The Bereavement Coordinator’s office is in the Victoria General Hospital, on the Palliative Care Floor (Floor: 7A, Office: 055).

*On Wednesdays the Bereavement Coordinator is based out of Alderney Gate Public Library (60 Alderney Dr, Dartmouth).

Cathy’s Place, a resource room for cancer patients and families, is located at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish. It has a computer with internet access and there are wigs, hats and turbans available for patients free of charge. It is staffed by volunteers. Cathy’s Place is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
